We have such a proud group of winners this week for the tiger ticket drawing! The box was stuffed full in hopes of winning a Simon Says hand held game. It was a cool one. Great job using your learned tiger traits kids. We loved all the great behaviors shown by many each day!

The sun is shining and there are lots of smiling faces on this Motivational Monday. Mrs. Kristen is one of those faces! Her shirt reminds the students of how happy we are to see their faces each day. She appreciates being one of those smiling faces for our students each morning. Mrs. Kristen is an At Risk Reading Paraprofessional that wears many hats. She has three children in our district and two here at Oak Street still, so she is always on the move! Thanks for being part of our staff and a great parent in the building. Happy Monday!
What a week! We made it to 5 days in a row! This is something to celebrate! There were lots of tickets in the drawing box, so we know many were using their tiger traits this week! Our fun group won a Snackles Mini Brands Ball. This is hard to describe, but basically a unique stuffed animal that doubles in size when it comes out of the container with a mini-brand item. Ask your kids about them, they definitely know! Have a great weekend Oak Street Families!
The last and final day of the Great Kindness Challenge. We wrote letters to teachers around the building. We hand delivered these notes with carnations. Throughout this week we have learned about how little acts of kindness change the world, it brings a bright light in the lives of others around us. What a sweet way to end the best week!!

The Great Kindness Challenge Day 4 - The other half of the class helped Ms. Fawna clean up after lunch. We also made cards to thank the wonderful Goddard city utility workers. The brutal cold hasn't made their job easy and we wanted to show our appreciation for all they do!

The Great Kindness Challenge Day 3 - It was time for trash duty. We went around and collected each classroom's trash and took it out to the trash bin. We also learned about picking up litter and taking care of our own trash.

The Great Kindness Challenge Day 2 - Helping Ms. Fawna clean up the cafeteria after all the lunches. Ms. Fawna and all the building engineers do an amazing job of keeping our building clean and working, we wanted to show our appreciation by helping clean up!!

Kristy Evers, Transportation Trainer, received the District Attitude Award after being nominated by Mr. Robert Rehse. Her nominator wrote, “As tends to happen every year, the district is short on bus drivers. That shortage is especially acute for activity drivers for sports. When the district put out feelers at the beginning of the year for coaches to sign up, lots of people were interested. At least until they saw how in-depth the training is and how much information you are required to learn. I decided to dive in anyway and once I did, I discovered Kristy was the perfect person to teach prospective drivers. She has made everything as user-friendly as possible and shows you exactly what you need to know and what are the best ways to learn it. The average person can't parallel park a car. Kristy has a method that if you simply follow the steps, you can parallel park a bus. She has a very calming presence about her teaching style and is very encouraging in her feedback. She understands that you'll make mistakes but helps you learn from them instead of dwelling on them. She made the process very bearable and helped me pass the CDL test on the first try. She is an asset to the district that often goes unnoticed so I believe she deserves this recognition.”
The Great Kindness Challenge Day 1 - filling the school with kindness posters. The kids used all their creativity to create fun and colorful posters to spread kindness throughout Oak Street. This also came with the challenge to smile at 25 people.

January is School Board Appreciation Month and the Oak Street Tigers are working hard to show their appreciation to our very own Goddard USD 265 Board of Education members Amanda Gish, Nicole Hawkins, Jerry Longabaugh, Mark Richards, Ginger Rose, Jenny Simmons, and Ruth Wood. Don't forget the meet and greet tonight from 6:15 - 6:45 p.m. at the Central Administration Center (201 S. Main St. Goddard, KS 67052).
Happy Motivational Monday here at Oak Street! We love all the pink that Mrs. Moses is sharing on this dreary day. She said bright colors, especially when it is cold and cloudy, always help bring a little extra positiveness to a day. We also love her t-shirt message to have a good day! Thanks for being such a bright light in first grade on this cold Monday in January.
We are coming at you after a three day school week with our newest Tiger Ticket winners. This cute group won their own set of Scented Crayons. These are so cool because they twist open and have lids.
