January's Tiger Trait is Perseverance

For elementary students, perseverance isn't about grand, heroic gestures. It's about how they handle everyday challenges.

  • Staying with a Task: A child continues to work on a tricky math problem, even if they have to erase their work and start over.

  • Trying Different Strategies: Instead of giving up on a complex Lego build, a student tries to figure out how to attach the pieces in a new way.

  • Bouncing Back from Mistakes: After spelling a word wrong, a child doesn't get discouraged but instead asks for help, corrects it, and practices it again.

  • Finishing a Project: A student completes a long-term assignment like a book report, even when they'd rather be doing something else, because they understand the value of seeing it through.

  • Asking for Help: A persevering child knows when they're stuck and asks a teacher or a parent for guidance, rather than just quitting. This shows they are committed to finding a solution.
